4MEP Category

4MEP is Machine, Materials, Measurement, Method, Environment and People.

It is used in Structured Brainstorming about possible causes. The process is requesting team member to focus and brainstorming possible cause regarding specific category (in example, Machine) within specific short period. And then move on the same process for next category. The causes finding are then input into Cause & Effect Diagram for further analysis.

It can also be used in FMEA for sub-category sorting (after each process category), and this make the FMEA process study more effective.
